About Tom Minimize

Tom called his first tip when a freshman in high school. He started calling hoedown dances on a regular schedule in 1959. In the late 1970's he began teaching modern western square dancing to 4-H'ers and actively began calling for square dance clubs in the early 1980's. Tom has a strong local program, teaching for 3 clubs, and travels on the weekends. He is currently averaging nearly 200 dates per year, calling one night party dances thru A-2.

Tom has recorded on the Rawhide-Buckskin label. He has been on the staff at the Ohio Square Dance Convention every year since 1985. He has called at 19 National Conventions, and has served as a panelist at 8 conventions.

Tom is an active member of CALLERLAB. Tom was given the Chairman's Award at the 2007 CALLERLAB Convention in recognition of his work in developing a Marketing Plan. He is the current chairman of the Mainstream Committee. He is the past chairman of the RPM (Recruit, Promote, Maintain) Committee and past chairman of the Resolutions Committee and is serving his second term on the CALLERLAB Board of Governors. Tom is currently serving on the CALLERLAB Executive Committee. Tom has served his local community in past years as a 12-year member of the Leetonia Schools Board of Education, and as a 21-year member of the Columbiana County Fair Board. He married his wife Bev in 1961, and they have 2 sons and six grandchildren, Katie, twins Jacob and Jessica, Cheyann, Madison and Aliva.
